The appearance is white or slightly yellow powder or flake, is 2-acetylglucosamine polymer, its chemical structure is similar to natural cellulose, in addition to the presence of hydroxyl, the molecule also contains acetylamino and amino functional groups, can be modified by more groups, with more rich functional properties than cellulose and its derivatives. Insoluble in water, ethanol, ether, salt, dilute acid, dilute base; Soluble chitin (also known as polyamine glucose, chitamine, sugar liquid chitin, chitosan, etc.) that is soluble in acetic acid and reacts with concentrated caustic soda solution to form a glassy colloid.

They can be used for:

Ion-exchange resins for purifying water and extracting uranium from seawater;
